Reitz climbs over Owen Valley, 35-10


Despite a safety which gave Owen Valley a 2-0 lead to end the first quarter, the Panthers scored 14 unanswered second-half points and cruised to a 35-10 victory over the visiting Patriots Friday night.

Reitz (10-1), which earned their first ten-win season since 2010, will host Jasper next week in the Class 4A Sectional 24 championship game. The Wildcats (10-1) won their semifinal game, defeating Central, 35-20.

Owen Valley, which finished 8-3, had their best season since 2005.

Higgins wins Week 10 Home Team Friday MVP


Malik Higgins was voted the Home Team Friday MVP for Week 10 by the visitors of TriStateHomepage.com. The running back/wide receiver racked up 162 yards and three touchdowns en route to the Panthers’ 59-35 win over Seymour last week.

Crowe, Deig voted Reis Tire Players of the Game

Deig won with 65 votes (47%), while Crowe amassed 122 votes for 62%.

This was Deig’s third time winning Offensive Player of the Game, while Crowe won the defensive award for the first time.

#RFFThe Mighty Panthers will host the Owen Valley Patriots Friday night in the second round of Class 4A Sectional 24.

Standing at 8-2, Owen Valley is having their best season since 2005 when they finished with the same record. The Patriots’ only losses were in September and they are now on a five-game winning streak.

The Panthers lead the series, 2-0, winning in 2007 and last year. Coach Hape is 17-5 overall and 1-0 against Owen Valley, while Patriot head coach Duane Potts is 64-67 overall and 0-2 against Reitz.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Reitz stops Seymour, 59-35


The Panthers used 49 unanswered first-half points to cruise to a 59-35 win Friday night over Seymour. Going into the game, the Owls had won two of their last three but were unable to use any momentum against the visitors, ranked No. 5 in Class 4A. Seymour finished 2-8.

Reitz, which improved to 9-1, will host Owen Valley (8-2) in the second round of the Class 4A Sectional 24 tournament next Friday. The Patriots advanced by downing Boonville, 28-21.

The winner of next week’s semifinal will earn a berth in the sectional championship game against the winner of the other semifinal (Jasper @ Central).
