The Panthers dropped their home opener Friday night, falling to Castle, 33-13. The Knights improved to 3-0 and 1-0 in the SIAC while the Panthers fell to 1-2, 0-1.

The Panthers came up short in last week’s 47-27 loss to Louisville Central. There’s no time to lick their wounds as they’ve got Castle, one of their toughest rivals, in the SIAC opener.
Castle won last year’s meeting, 22-13, snapping a 10-game winning streak against the Knights that the Panthers had accumulated. Reitz leads the overall series, 24-18.

Louisville Central 47, Reitz 27
The Panthers suffered their first loss of the season Saturday morning, falling to Louisville Central, Kentucky’s defending 3A champions, 47-27.

After a close call against Henderson last week, the Panthers return to Kentucky again Saturday to face the Yellowjackets of Louisville Central.
This will be the first of a four-game extravaganza at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium called the Bluegrass Football Classic. Reitz played in it last year, as well, defeating Paducah Tilghman, 28-21.
The Yellowjackets also competed in last year’s event, defeating Goodpasture (Tenn.), 47-34, before going on to win the KHSAA Class 3A State Championship.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Reitz won a close one last year over the Colonels, 21-20, in overtime
Welcome to GameDay Central, brought to you by our friends at Tracy Zeller Jewelry. The first game of the regular season is upon us! The Mighty Panthers will once again wage war with Henderson County. The Boys in Blue will cross the Mighty Ohio River tomorrow and invade Colonel field at approximately 7 p.m.
Reitz leads the all-time series, six games to four, and is 3-2 at Colonel Stadium. Since the series was renewed in 2009, Reitz has won all three, although last year’s game was a little too close for comfort, as the Colonels’ two-point conversion attempt was stopped just shy of the goal line by Kameron Harris’ “miracle tackle” to preserve a 21-20 Reitz win.

The website is going to look a little different as I’m in the process of switching all the files to WordPress blogging software. Since I started the site in 1996, I’ve always done the coding of the site by hand (via HTML), but it’s time for a switch.
