Jasper 17, Reitz 9: Week 12 GameDay Central presented by Tracy Zeller Jewelry

Recap

Reitz put up a strong effort, but came up short in Friday night’s Class 4A Sectional 24 Championship game against Jasper, 17-9.

Despite a 1-2 start, the Mighty Panthers and first-year head coach Andy Hape put together a great season and finished 8-4.

Jasper improved to 11-1 and will face Columbus East (12-0), led by former Reitz coach Bob Gaddis, this Friday in a regional championship game.

Preview

Reitz has developed quite a postseason rivalry with Jasper, facing the Wildcats in five of the last six years. The Panthers won last year’s match-up, 31-30, and are 5-2 overall against Jasper all-time. The next chapter in this series will continue tonight at Jasper, when the Wildcats, at 10-1 and ranked No. 6 in Class 4A, host Reitz (8-3).

Reitz 49, Silver Creek 15: Week 11 GameDay Central presented by Tracy Zeller Jewelry

Recap

Reitz took a big lead early and never looked back Friday night, defeating the Dragons, 49-15. Silver Creek finished 4-7 while Reitz improved to 8-3. The Panthers will travel to Jasper this Friday night to take on the Wildcats for the Class 4A Sectional 24 Championship.

Preview

Reitz will face Silver Creek for a berth in the sectional finals tonight. The Dragons won their first-ever playoff game last week and were scheduled to host a second-round game, but because of limited facilities, the IHSAA ruled that they could not and the game has been moved to Reitz Bowl.

This will be the first meeting between the schools.

Reitz 38, Owen Valley 0: Week 10 GameDay Central presented by Tracy Zeller Jewelry

Recap

The Panthers hit the ground running and never let up, as they shutout Owen Valley, 38-0, to earn a first-round playoff victory. Reitz (7-3) will now travel to Silver Creek (4-6) this Friday night for a Class 4A Sectional 24 semifinal.

Preview

Following a heart-breaking loss to Mater Dei for the city and SIAC titles last week, Reitz (6-3) will look to bounce back in their sectional opener against Owen Valley (5-4) tonight. The teams have only met once before, in 2007 when Reitz won, 48-13.

Mater Dei 16, Reitz 14: Week 9 GameDay Central presented by Tracy Zeller Jewelry

Recap

Preview

The West Side War will be waged once again this evening as Reitz takes on Mater Dei at Reitz Bowl.

Three titles are on the line with this game. The winner will be undisputed West Side & City Champs, while a Reitz win would give both the Panthers (6-2 overall, 5-1 SIAC, 5-0 City) and Mater Dei (8-0, 6-0, 5-0) a share of the conference championship.

Reitz leads the series, 44-17, and has won seven of the last eight years, with Mater Dei’s last win coming in 2011.

IHSAA playoff pairings announced; Reitz draws Owen Valley

Reitz drew a first-round home game against Owen Valley, and the winner will play either Boonville or Silver Creek.

Here is the complete list of quarterfinal games in Class 4A Sectional 24:

Quarterfinal games
Owen Valley (5-3) at No. 10 Evansville Reitz (6-2)

Reitz 38, Bosse 27: Week 8 GameDay Central presented by Tracy Zeller Jewelry

Recap

Preview

The Panthers (5-2 overall, 4-1 SIAC, 4-0 city) host Bosse at the Bowl tonight. The Bulldogs (4-3, 3-2, 2-2) lost last week to Mater Dei, but had won three straight before that.

Reitz leads the series, 62-26-6, and has won eleven of the last twelve years, with Bosse’s last win coming in 2011.

While the city title is no longer in reach for Bosse, the Bulldogs still have an outside chance of earning a share of their first SIAC title since 1994. The Bulldogs would need to beat Reitz and Harrison next week, while Mater Dei would have to lose to Central tonight and Reitz next week. Should all of that happen, Bosse, Central, Mater Dei and Reitz would all share the conference title, and would be joined by Castle should they win their last two against North and Memorial.
